When people think of New England, they may think of crisp fall days, cranberry bogs, or whale watching. Glaciers shaped the land thousands of years ago, leaving behind forests and mountains, fertile valleys, rivers, and many excellent harbors. Native Americans were the first to recognize the richness of this land, and Europeans followed, using the ample resources to build houses, farms, and towns.
