New Industries, New Jobs
Primary Sources of Immigration and Migration in America
After the Industrial Revolution in Britain, jobs were scarce and living conditions were poor. In contrast, the Industrial Revolution in America created new opportunities and many new jobs. Record numbers of British left their homes between 1830 and 1890 to start a new life in America. Life was not easy once they arrived, but these people worked hard in textile mills, factories, and in countless other new jobs.
