Introducing Obama as a child born in Hawaii, the book moves on to his maternal grandparents and then his mother, an anthropology student, whose interest in other cultures was a factor in her relationship with Kenyan-born Barack Obama Sr. A page devoted to Obama seniors marriages and children is bolstered by a family tree. It is the color photographs throughout that will lure kids in, and theyll be encouraged by the large typeface. Perhaps the most striking layout is the simple photo of Obama with his Kenyan relatives, which has the feel of any good family photo: friendly, open, and inviting. A glossary is appended.Booklist
