Incredibly Disgusting Food

Written in a plain-speaking style, each book considers the terrible physical and mental consequences of eating unhealthy food and of drinking unwholesome beverages. The narratives are vividly descriptive yet scientifically oriented, discussing the target foods and beverages in physiological and cultural contexts. Many of the photographs of medical cases are uncensored, with the idea that the text is taking a scared-straight approach to the material and that readers deserve an honest, open message with all details revealed. This collection covers the impact that the respective food or beverage has on a person's body, mind, and emotions. Each volume also includes myths and facts about the food or beverage and a list of great questions to ask a nutritionist.

Series Review: Incredibly Disgusting FoodThis series really sends a clear message on the dangers our teens face with food. I think Michelle Obama would highly support these titles in her quest to eliminate childhood obesity in a generation... All in all, loved this series. Rosens designers so brilliantly included the word disgusting in the title that teens are intrigued and pick them up. Yes! If I can get teens to stop and think about what they are eating, Ill put the Incredibly Disgusting Food series on my shelves.Diane Chen, John F. Kennedy Middle SchoolSeries Review: Incredibly Disgusting FoodKnowledge about ingredients and eating in moderation is the consensus of all of the books as evidenced by the last chapters that cover healthier practices and alternatives to snack food. Readers may or may not be disgusted, but they will definitely learn a thing or two about smart eating habits.School Library Journal
