The Armed Forces
This collection of essays debates several issues relating to the Armed Forces, across four chapters. Chapter one explores the role of the armed forces in nation building, controlling piracy, providing disaster relief, and quelling domestic unrest. Chapter two examines who should serve in the armed forces, use of the draft, and women in combat. Chapter three discusses management issues such as training, use of private contractors, and corruption and waste in procurement. In the last chapter, readers will evaluate the policies governing armed forces personnel, such as tours of duty, care of veterans, and the rules of engagement.
