Grade 8: Westward Expansion
Aligns to the TEKS Resource System, Unit 7, Westward Expansion - From Sea to Shinning Sea 1780s-1850s
With these resources, students will learn about the concept of Manifest Destiny, the acquisition of lands west of the Mississippi River, the exploration of the Louisiana Purchase, and the increase of westward expansion due to the Mexican-American War. Students will use the historical inquiry process to assess sources for validity and bias.
